Number 71 Type Study

Very recently there has been discovered a totally new tool that was probably in the production/research phase at WS around 1954.

This was a Router plane given the name of  A71.

Although rudimentary in its’ style, it had much work to be still done and would therefore appear to be just a research piece in this disguise prior to the release of the real thing and may well have been found on a dump after  WS  were bought out by WODEN in 1954.   This is just a sample piece before the real thing.

It can be seen that it was only at a rudimentary stage by the lack of any device to alter the cutting piece height, the obvious non-useable handles [too small, but obviously A110 front knob handles] and the lack of any Blue WS colour.  It is the only example that I have ever seen and I wish that I owned it!
